There were other things, but I thought you might enjoy the opportunity to be personally offended.

[ Well that's what most messages from fans mean when they demand the bowtie come off. ]

That's the price of fame, Doctor. Be sure to thank Angel one day that she doesn't encourage it. Can you imagine having a manager who would?

I don't want to imagine. I might have lucked out going into classical instead of rock.

Fans are strange. People generally look the same topless. Why do they want to see me specifically when Virgo has other artists they can googley eye at? More muscular chaps at that!

Because they like your music better, so there's a bias. Isn't it obvious?

Musical talent has nothing to do with whether you look good without a shirt or not. If we were performing at a nudist colony it'd make a lot more sense to strip.

Is that a suggestion for our next performance?

I don't think the younger ones would agree to it. Too shy about nudity. Unlike we Europa spirited souls.

If we ever go touring back home one day, can you just imagine their poor little hearts?

[The morning of the eighth will find a box on the Doctor's bed. It's wrapped with nothing less than absolute love, and inside is what appears to be a leather bracelet of some sort that he's free to fiddle with. Beneath it is a Solstice card, signed with Luce's name.]

[No real suprise: Doctor tackles the gift and unwraps it like a child would.]

What's this?

[He turns the leather piece over several times in his hands. It's clear it fits the wrist so he slips it on as he continues examining it. He gives each button or knob a tap and the display lights up and reveals what its made for.]

This is- Oh this is- [He stumbles to the doorway to yell for Luce. Really he needs to tell her exactly what he thinks as soon as possible.] Luce!

[As can be expected, Luce is at the kitchen chopping up some fruit for breakfast. Her lips quirk up as Doctor suddenly appears in his doorway.]

Good morning, dear.

[ Doctor is still in his pajamas as he comes bouncing out of his bedroom to greet her. He has to stop to kick off a blanket that was caught on his leg and almost falls over in the process. His hair is a mess and he's grinning from ear to ear. ]

This is beautiful! This is one of the best time pieces I have ever seen! Where in the world did you find this treasure?

Commission, dear.

[Humming, she pours some espresso for him- not that he needs it- and puts it on the counter.]

They cut it a bit close, but it all worked out in the end.

This would have been worth waiting for!

[ He activates it again and the display comes to life. He pokes at the lights with his other hand, thoroughly entertained. ]

[ And he sings to her, floppy messy hair and all. ]

[The sudden burst of song has her laugh into her hand, making sure not to get so distracted that she accidentally sets the stove on fire. When he suddenly presents the gift, she grins. Well, might as well play along, right?]

[Carefully, she takes it and sets it on the counter away from all the food, because you never know, and gets to unwrapping it curiously.]

[ Inside Luce will find what she might be expecting: a stylish purple leather jacket. Accompanying it is a matching hand bag and wallet. ]

I realize I should have measured your shoes and found you something matching to complete the gift! Where's my time machine to correct that?

Of course! Come over to the FoB penthouse. Luce made cookies again.

[ Sure enough, the knock isn't too long after. Greg's put on his best smile for the visit, though exhaustion still peeks through around the edges. ]

You guys always have the best baked goods, huh?

[ Doctor welcomes him into the penthouse. At the moment the others from the band are out but a large stack of cookies is set out on a plate on the counter and a few smaller used plates are left out from an earlier cookie-eating gathering when Luce had first pulled the cookies out of the oven. ]

We certainly do! Please help yourself. Luce and the others aren't here at the moment but she would want you to have some.

Have you been able to practice our "bagel exercises" at all? I imagine you've been very busy haven't you? Whenever I stopped by your penthouse the last few weeks your bandmates told me you were occupied elsewhere. Intense song writing sessions?

You're a master host, Doctor.

[ He takes a cookie, looking around the room. It doesn't seem like anything's been rearranged or the like since his last visit, but something feels different. ]

Ahh... Yeah. Actually, I've been practicing a bit. But, uh, I haven't really gotten any better, so.

[ Something's really nagging at him, a feeling he knows, but can't quite place. It's on the tip of his tongue. He eyes Doctor. ]

What about you? You're always keeping busy, I know.

Of course! I've been working on two projects lately. The next Flowers Over Bones album naturally, as well as a new symphony. I felt the need to write for an orchestra. It's such a powerful sound, it's very fitting for stories about space and other planets and species.

...Have you spoken with Luce at all recently?

[panspermia]

You can't breathe without turning it into a symphony, can you?

[ It's a compliment. Doctor's energy makes him miss all that vigor he's lost for songwriting in the last few weeks. All that passion and creativity is a blessing. ]

Ah... yeah, a little. We haven't had a lot of chance to catch up, though.

[trustme]

Not really. You have no idea how many songs I've written that had to be cut down to three minutes. Such a waste! But for the radio it had to be done.

[Doctor pauses before explaining his mention of Luce. Something about Greg seems different. Both of them likely getting the same sort of vibe from the other one, the power of music. Doctor could sense it from other for a week now but he had guessed it was related to his telepathy.]

Right. You've been busy. [ He nods. ]

The rest of the band and I have come to a conclusion about Virgo and who we are. I feel you should know about it too. Then again you've had your own suspicions as we've discussed before. What do you know of the truth already?
